Here at Halas Homes, we have many residents across our care home and supported living housing. Some have been with us for only a short time while others have been living with us happily for many decades. They are all supported by our dedicated care staff. We have chatted* to some of our residents about their lives here with us. Below are some of their thoughts;

John says; "I did move into the big home in 1981 but into this house in 1983. This is where I want to stay. I enjoy the nice and quiet atmosphere. I have liked it even better since I have had my bike. No sooner did the exercise bike come, the single three wheeler arrived. I don't like barriers that are put in the way to stop you. Obstacles and that. The manager Sian was nice, and so is Jak [the new manager]".

Barbara says, "I like living here with John. I like all sorts, like going out and shopping and watching dancing on TV. I like playing with soft things as they calm me down. Colouring in makes me feel happy. I like the day centre as I do a lot of crafts. I like making friends, such as Steven, Becky, Steph, Rahmah, Christine, Tony, Sue. I like helping them. I like doing puzzles, playing bingo and singing, which I do at Sing and Sign on Tuesdays! I like the staff". Barbara also has a helper badge, and enjoys helping people in the day centre.

Martin says, "It is nice here. I talk to anyone. I like my house and garden. I'm just happy me".

Sue, "I can do everything and I do everything I want. I am happy here. I have been here quite a long time. I like the house and my bedroom. I like some food but do have all sorts of food. People on duty come to see if you are alright. I am really grateful for Halas."

Another resident, Ken says, "I'm happy all the time". Ken talked about how he watches the telly with Terence in their new lounge. Ken also takes out the recycling every day for the cooks. Regarding our day centre, Ken has said, "I just like coming here". Our users enjoy playing bingo with a chance to win a snacks and other prizes. Ken has said, "I get called 'KitKat Ken'" as he always loves a KitKat as a snack after he has won.

Keith talked to us about Halas Homes, saying, "It's lovely. I enjoy the meals. Lovely people. I like music and listen to it in my home. The staff talk to me and listen to me. Sometimes I go out into town. Barry and Les are my friends".

Ben has said, "I like the things that we do in Halas House. I come to the Day Centre and have been doing different things like gardening. My friends are Tracey and people like that. The food is lovely and my favourite is fish and chips. People look after me and I am happy."

Susy has lived with us for twenty years. She has said; "I like watching all my soaps and I do things by myself. Staff take me to my gym on my 1:1 and I do well and have beaten my targets. I am doing very well. I can sometimes go on my own as well." Susy has also recently been redecorating her bedroom and planned it all herself. "My bedroom is nearly finished, as I have had my walls painted blue and my sink is in. I am getting a new TV and new blinds. I am looking forward to being in my new bedroom." Susy also volunteers on Thursday at Halas Academy, and helps younger adults with learning difficulties in the kitchen preparing food and keeping safe in the kitchen.
